Facebook was in the news last night for their lack of discretion and the fact that they have done nothing to keep pedofiles and pedofile pages off of Facebook. I don't mean to be sounding the alarm in any kind of panic, but this could be serious, especially for those of us with kids that use Facebook.

Facebook launched an application called Facebook Places. Although I have never used it or seen the application used, the gist as it was explained to me is that anyone can find out where you are when you are logged in (in real time). It gives the actual address and map location of where you are as you use Facebook. Make sure the kids know!... To undo, go to 'account', to 'account settings', to 'notifications', scroll down to places... and uncheck the 2 boxes. Make sure to save changes and let other folks with kids know this, or others that don't want their location plastered all over for folks to know.

Facebook is a great application for alot of things to alot of people. There always has to be an as***le or a group of them ruining simple life pleasures for others.

I passed this on as a messsage to my friends with kids on facebook. I would urge you to do the same. Keeping our kids aware is key here.
